Two teenagers were seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 80 near Lincoln that hospitalized six people Tuesday afternoon.
Nebraska State Patrol Sgt. Timothy Salmen said the 17-year-old driver became distracted, lost control, crossed the median and hit an SUV head-on around 5:30 p.m.
Two girls on the passenger side of the car were taken to the Bryan West Campus in Lincoln. Two other girls in the car and a woman and infant in the SUV were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The accident closed the interstate for about 90 minutes.
