A great, great grandson of Charles Dickens will perform "A Christmas Carol" on stage in Omaha.

On November 16th and 17th the Douglas County Historical Society will present the production at the Field Club of Omaha.

The show is performed by Gerald Charles Dickens, the great-great grandson of literary master, Charles Dickens. Gerald, an actor and producer hailing from Oxford, England, will be performing his rendition of the holiday classic.

Gerald bears more than a passing resemblance to his famous ancestor, who originally toured the U.S. in 1867 reading his literary works. The historians report that A Christmas Carol was his favorite piece to perform.

According to Gerald, his great-great grandfather adored theater and initially wanted to be an actor but pursued writing as a career for practical purposes. “I learned that Charles used to rehearse 200 to 300 times in front of a mirror,” he told the Boston Globe.

Mr. Dickens returns to the U.S. for his 2012 tour that will take him to twelve states across the country.

Tickets to the performances are available for purchase through the Douglas County Historical Society’s website (link below), or by calling 402-455-9990.
