A month-long donation drive came to an end Friday, benefiting Omaha's Open Door Mission.
More than 500,000 diapers were given to be used to help parents in need of them throughout the year. The diaper drive was sponsored by a local radio station.
Organizers say collecting so many diapers is a testament to the community. "When moms come in and dads come in that have little kids, we want to be able to provide those diapers for them,” said the mission’s James Cummings. “Also, for low income families that are in the community that are already stretching their dollar, they are trying to pay rent, they are trying to pay utilities, try to put food on their table and the last thing that sometimes they think of is oh, I need to put diapers on my child as well."
You may still make a monetary donation by texting "diapers" to 90999.
