The day after Halloween, some parents may have needed a crowbar to pry a kid away from their candy. But some kids are willingly parting with it. Candy brought in to a local dentist was rewarded with a dollar bill per pound; up to five pounds.

The candy that was collected at Emergency Dental Care USA at 84th and Center will go to local Offutt airmen serving overseas. A lot of children got involved for a lot of different reasons.

"Last year we had a woman bring in her sons. They had peanut allergies and they'd never been able to trick or treat because they could have any candy. Well because the candy buy back they were able to trick or treat and get money and use that money for treats they could have," said Theresa Cassiday with Emergency Dental.

After they got cash, the kids were invited to sign a card for the service men and women.

168 pounds of candy was collected. A new record for the dental office.
