A man has pleaded no contest in connection with the 2012 death of a Lincoln man.

Adrian Casares entered the plea Friday to a charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder in the death of Tyler Schoenrock.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports the 21-year-old Casares originally faced charges including being accessory to a crime, terroristic threats and use of a firearm to commit a felony. His trial was scheduled to begin this month.

Schoenrock's body was found with several gunshot wounds on a rural road north of Lincoln. Another man, Miguel Castillo, also faces charges in the death. The 24-year-old's case was on hold pending Casares' plea.

Casares is set to be sentenced in April.
