The buck stops in a Bellevue neighborhood where a deer appears to be wrapped with barbed wire. Neighbors have seen the injured deer several times passing behind the homes next to a wooded area.
Lisa Zuccorello took a photo of the buck. It appears that barbed wire is wrapped across the shoulder of the deer. A piece of metal dangles from the buck.
Pam Aldinger lives next to the woods. She said, “He’s dragging a piece of metal on the ground so it’s kind of like he’s pulling a plow.”
Channel Six News contacted the Nebraska Humane Society and state Game and Parks. Game and Parks Greg Wagner said, “We’ve got a variety of means at our disposal where we can dart the deer, net the deer or trap the deer and cut that barbed wire off.” The difficulty is notifying and getting animal control in the neighborhood when the deer is spotted.
Pam and Dwight Aldinger said the buck comes through a few times a week but sometimes early morning and others times at night. Pam said, “It’s sad to me because I’m afraid this animal is going to die a very torturous death.”
Anyone who see the buck wrapped in barbed wire can call the Humane Society at 444-7800 extension one.
