Channel 6 News continues its election coverage presenting interviews with the candidates in Nebraska State Legislature districts, challenger Bill Kintner and current State Sen. Paul Lambert, both vying for the seat in District 2.
Paul Lambert has lived in District 2 all his life. "It's just been very rewarding and very good for me. I've had a good life here and I want to give something back if I can."

Lambert has served on the Plattsmouth City Council as well as mayor before being appointed to the Legislature by Gov. Heineman. The main issues in his campaign? "Taxes, the aging infrastructure in the communities is a problem and of course the rising valuation of farmland is a concern to the rural community."
His opponent Bill Kintner's main concern is taxes. “Not every good idea needs to be paid for by taxpayer money and the fact that we can't control our spending makes our taxes high.”
Kintner, who has lived in several states, says those high taxes have weakened Nebraska's competitiveness. "We are one of the 10 worst states to retire in so if we want to be competitive for jobs and for people, we need to start working those taxes down, that's why I'm running."
Kintner’s priorities are education, roads and public safety. “We need someone who is going to go in and say no to the new spending, we need someone who can differentiate between a need and a want and that's me.”
Lambert says what's needed is someone who will listen to the constituents. "You listen to what the people want, you are a servant of the people and a lot of people get the idea, I feel, that haven't been in elected office, they're going to go in (and) change this, change that and you can do that but you have to have the people behind you."
