Don't put it past burglars to read the obituaries to find new targets. If they know you're at a funeral or just passed away it can present an opportunity. Todd Plagge isn't sure that's exactly what happened to him.

He thinks it's possible someone in his neighborhood was watching. "We've got someone here day and nite, 24/7 so it just happened to be the one time that we were gone that this happened," recalled Plagge.

He was out of town helping his mother prepare funeral arrangements following the death of an aunt when the burglary happened.

There is a strong law enforcement presence in his Cherry Hills subdivision near 108th and Military in Omaha. "Across the street is a retired sheriff and there's an active Omaha Police officer that lives two doors up," said Plagge.
