The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing to reduce the flow at Gavins Point Dam. The release has been at 150,000 cubic feet per second for several weeks. On Friday, the flow will be reduced to 145,000 cfs.
The flow will then be reduced 5,000 cfs every day until it reaches 90,000 at the end of August. Eventually, the release is expected to be down to 40,000 cfs by the end of September. This is only a forecast based on expected conditions.
The release reached 160,000 cfs this summer at the height of the Missouri River flooding.
