The Independence Day celebration gets the advantage of a full weekend this year and there’s plenty to keep you busy in the metro.
The party began Thursday with a picnic and dancing in Ralston and dancing in Council Bluffs.
Fireworks were on the schedule in Omaha.
The crowds began to gather early at Midtown Crossing. People turned out to listen to music and catch the sky-painting when the lights go out.
We also stopped by TD Ameritrade park where they were preparing for the College Home Run Derby.
TD Ameritrade’s Kim Hillyer said, “The Home Run Derby offers yet another option for families to come out and enjoy a night of baseball and of course you can't forget the fireworks that cap it all off."
Something new they are trying out this year: attaching a Go Pro video cameras to a players’ bats. That could give the audience a really unique look.
