We now know the name of a worker who was rescued after being trapped for more than three hours in a grain bin in central Iowa.

Fifty-six-year-old Steve Kaufman, of Ankeny, was trapped Tuesday morning at the Heartland Co-op east of Ankeny. The accident was reported about 9:30 a.m. He was rescued around 1 p.m. and flown to a Des Moines hospital.

Kaufman was in corn up to his chest, but remained in stable condition throughout the rescue.

Kaufman has worked at the co-op for about six years.

Two other employees and an Ankeny firefighter were taken to the
hospital as a precaution after being exposed to grain dust.
