The Omaha Police Department has identified a man who went missing in the Missouri River late Sunday night.

23-year-old Aung Thu apparently jumped in the water at NP Dodge Park and swam to the middle of the river around 9:45 p.m. Sunday. After that, his family says they never saw him again.

Rescue boats from the Omaha Fire Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to search for him. Their efforts were called off early Monday morning.

The U.S. Coast Guard has now been notified about Thu's disappearance, along with law enforcement agencies in surrounding cities.
