Creston Man Accused of Attempted Murder

A Creston, Iowa man has been charged with Attempted Murder in connection with a Tuesday evening incident in Corning. He’s identified as 32-year-old Peter Wiley.

Authorities were called to the Casey’s in Corning where a woman had reported that someone had tried to shoot her. She told a deputy that Wiley had shot at the vehicle she was driving and then he drove off.

On Wednesday morning, a Creston police officer spotted Wiley’s vehicle and tried to pull him over. A short pursuit followed. It ended when Wiley’s car slid into a ditch. As officers were getting him out, the vehicle caught fire and the suspect’s hands were burned. He was taken into custody after being treated for his injuries.

In addition, Wiley is also suspected of a shooting that injured his brother, 40-year-old Raymond Wiley. Raymond suffered several gunshot wounds and after initially being treated at Shenandoah Medical Center, he was transferred to an Omaha hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
