Credit Union Hold Up Last Month

Bond stays the same for man in custody who may be tied to robbery. During arraignment and a bond review hearing, the prosecution revealed the 21-year-old is ‘the person of interest’ in the Sac Federal Credit Union armed robbery in Plattsmouth last month.

The Cassgram reports Caleb Searcy of Plattsmouth is charged with theft by receiving, over $1500, a Class III Felony. Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox told Cassgram that Searcy’s bond remained at $25,000 after Cass County District Court Judge Randall Rehmeier was informed that Searcy is a person of interest in the credit union robbery. Searcy is charged with possessing money believed taken in the bank robbery although Searcy told investigators he found the money.

Plattsmouth Police Chief Steve Rathman had confirmed in late December that a person of interest in the case was in custody on a charge that was not armed robbery. Searcy “has not been identified as a suspect in the robbery and he has not been excluded as a suspect,” said Cox on Thursday.

Cox had concerns that Searcy would leave the area if there is a lower bond he is able to post so the judge was informed of Searcy’s status in the credit union investigation.
