A Denton man has died of his injuries after his van crashed into a combine head Monday afternoon. Lancaster County Sheriff's office is investigating the accident.
Emergency responders were called to Highway 77 and Hallam Road shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday.
County investigators say 55-year-old Robert Michaud of Denton was traveling at a high speed down Hwy 77 when he lost control and hit a ditch.
The impact sent the van airborne, crashing into a John Deere combine head that was being towed by a pickup.
The Lancaster Sheriff's Office says Michaud was trapped in the van for a "lengthy period of time," before being freed from the wreckage.
He was then flown to Bryan LGH West Hospital.
Five hours after the crash, Michaud was pronounced dead at the hospital.
No one else was injured. The victim was wearing a seat belt. Investigators believe alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
