The Nebraska Department of Roads reports the L Street bridge of Interstate 80 is safe, following a semi rollover crash Monday night that hit a support under the span.
The inspection Tuesday found the concrete support was scraped, but there was no structural damage.
Omaha Police closed the I-L-Q exit from Interstate 80 westbound for several hours Monday because of the crash, which left a Utah man with serious injuries.
Police say a semi and empty trailer were traveling eastbound on I-80 when the semi struck the L Street bridge support and came to rest underneath the L Street bridge.
The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Lester Bowman of St. George, Utah, suffered a fractured pelvis, leg, and head injury. He was pinned in the cab for 30 minutes before crews rescued him. He was taken to Creighton Medical Center by the Omaha Fire Department.
The cab of the semi suffered extensive damage. The engine was torn out and caused a large fuel spill. Hazmat was called to the scene to clean up the fuel. There were also several other semis and tow trucks used to clear debris.
