Family and friends are remembering David Korff. The 19-year-old was killed in a traffic accident near 72nd and Shirley in Omaha early Tuesday.

Ariel Kohll offered a tribute in song for her friend Tuesday night. “We know that he is the type of guy that would want to be celebrated instead of mourned." David was described as “musical and kind and the sweetest guy in the whole world."

Julian Fox and David were in a reggae band together. “I think a lot of us don't really have, just being so young, the kind of capabilities to express ourselves in the way and I think Ariel really wants us to make and give us an avenue to express our emotions."

David is helping them through his music. A memorial at UNL lasted into the night. Many of the students involved went to high school with David.

His parents released the following statement: “We are terribly saddened at the loss of our son David. He was a talented musician and athlete. His spirit and passion will be greatly missed. He was loved by his family and his many friends."

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
