Crash Victim Mourned


Family and friends are mourning the loss of 33-year-old Miki Bailey, one of the people killed in a deadly string of traffic accidents over the weekend.

She died in an accident on Interstate 29 south of Council Bluffs Sunday afternoon.

Iowa State Patrol troopers told WOWT 6 News that Ms. Bailey slammed on the brakes of her Jeep Grand Cherokee after a driver in front of her had slowed down for a motorcycle north of Highway 370. She went off the road, lost control, crossed the median and her vehicle rolled over. It happened shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. Interstate 29 south of Council Bluffs Sunday afternoon.

The Council Bluffs woman died at the hospital and left behind a son.

It has been a difficult time for Miki Bailey's family, friend and co-workers. Normally, she would have been at her desk at R.J. Nelson Heating and Air Conditioning on Monday, a job she's had for the past two years.

Co-worker Jason Mass said they're all in "shock" and that she was the, "voice of the company" and a part of its family. He said she was, "kind, caring and sensitive" and could handle herself in a business where all her co-workers are men.

She was engaged according to her Facebook page. When reached on the phone, his family said, "it's too soon" to talk about the loss.
