A three-vehicle crash, that resulted in a fuel spill, caused a traffic delay Monday.
Westbound traffic on Highway 370 was closed for about an hour Monday morning, between Golden and 36th Street. Investigators told WOWT 6 News a Chevy ran the red light, trying to turn south and hit a Ford pickup. The impact caused the pickup to crash into a semi.
The collision took out one of the fuel tanks on the semi, causing some 40 gallons of diesel fuel to spill out.
“The positive thing about diesel fuel is that it has a lower flammability than gasoline," said Batt. Chief Steve Wagner. "We set up a line for protection in the event that we did have a flash but it is not nearly as likely as it would have been with gasoline.”
Crews were able to clean-up the spilled gas, without it draining into the sewer.
Two people were treated at the scene, but refused further treatment. The third driver was not hurt.
