Cox is looking into an item that WOWT 6 News uncovered in a police report.
A woman in southwest Omaha dodged a phone scam after calling someone claiming to be a Cox representative.
According to the police report, she Googled “Cox email problems” and then dialed the number she found to seek help for problems with her email.
A red flag was raised when the person on the other end asked her to purchase three levels of Internet protection. It was a con artist who managed to get the false number high up in the search engine.
Cox is investigating.
