There will not be a Web.com stop in Omaha in 2014, the PGA announced Friday.
The PGA Tour released the 2014 Web.com schedule with no Cox Classic. It is the first time in almost 20 years that the tour will not make a stop in Omaha. Below is the statement from the PGA:
"The PGA TOUR released its 2014 Web.com Tour tournament schedule today. We are taking a one-year hiatus with respect to Omaha, which gives us ample time to restructure the tournament to ensure we have all of the elements in place to continue what is a very successful community-based event in 2015. For close to 20 years, Omaha has been one of the Web.com Tour's strongest tournament markets, and we plan to continue our significant investment into this important market.
The PGA TOUR thanks the many long-standing sponsors of the event, including Cox Communications, Lexus of Omaha, Champions Run as well as the volunteers, media, and golf fans in Omaha.
We're also excited about developing new partnerships, and we've engaged Bruno Event Team, which operated the highly successful U.S. Senior Open last year, to help lead this effort.
We look forward to a great event in 2015 in Omaha.
As more details are confirmed, we will make additional announcements during 2014."
