Court documents filed in a Cheyenne County murder case say the victim was stabbed, beaten and choked.
The documents were unsealed on Monday as the suspect,
46-year-old Craig Johnson, was formally charged in Sidney with
second-degree murder and a weapons violation.
Prosecutors say Johnson killed his girlfriend, 42-year-old April
Smith, on Dec. 12 at the home they shared about eight miles from
Sidney in the Nebraska Panhandle. Johnson was arrested Thursday in Jackson County, Mich.
According to the documents, Smith was found on the floor of living room. Her hands and legs had been bound by wire and rope. Blood was found elsewhere in the house.
Johnson remains in custody. His attorney didn't immediately
return a call Tuesday from The Associated Press.
