The search for battery thieves has been recharged with the arrest of two people. 48 year old Jeffry Ruckman and 49 year old Tina Zoltowski busted today near Tekamah Nebraska with stolen scrap metal
Last august we reported that farmers west of the metro found batteries missing when they tried to start their tractors. Investigators estimated 300 batteries stolen from farm equipment in several counties. Saunders county sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz tells fact finders the couple arrested today are suspects.
It’s also believed the pair has stolen a variety of farm equipment and resold it on line. Invesitgator told Fact Finders the suspects even took photos of antique machinery when they had a buyer they allegedly went back to steal the equipment.
Investigators is as many as eight counties will be looking at the couple for thefts from rural areas.
