A Canadian couple was killed when their vehicle was struck almost head-on by a semi on Interstate 80 west of Overton, Nebraska Thursday afternoon.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the westbound truck crossed the median and struck an eastbound SUV pulling a camper around 2:30 p.m. Seventy-four-year-old Bruce McPhail and his 76-year-old wife Ruth, both from Ontario, were killed.
What caused the semi to cross the median and who was driving remains under investigation. The two occupants of the truck, 50-year-old Jeremiah Ngengi of SeaTac, Washington and 41-year-old John Seals III of Charlotte, North Carolina, were treated and released from the Lexington Regional Health Center.
