Cass county agrees to a few hundred dollars for employees to participate in a ‘Biggest Loser Contest’. The program fits in with the health and wellness employee incentives Cass County has initiated within the last year. The county board is hoping the pro-active approach to better health for employees pays off by stemming an alarming hike in health insurance premiums the last few years.
The Cassgram reports contest participation among county employees is voluntary. Weigh-ins begin February 3rd with the contest ending April 27th. Employees will pay a $5 per person entry fee. The county will buy $5 Subway gift certificates for each participant.
The county is also buying a 32-inch HDTV for the individual winner and will absorb the labor costs for one day of vacation for the winning participant and half-day vacation for each member of the winning team. The percent of body weight lost determines the winners.
