The Pottawattamie County has ruled the officers who took deadly measures followed procedure in an officer-involved shooting.

In August, 52-year-old Michael Hannum was shot twice by Council Bluffs Police Officer Jason Burleigh. Police said Officer Burleigh fired the shots after a taser, deployed by Officer Aaron Gutierrez, failed to stop Hannum.

He had been missing from a work release program. A woman spotted Hannum in the Walmart construction area, at 16th and Nash, and reported what she believed to be suspicious activity. Police have said Hannum was armed with a knife.
