Omaha Police say that five juveniles were taken into custody Monday afternoon in connection with a burglary at the home of City Councilman Garry Gernandt.
When officer arrived, they could hear noises coming from inside the residence and eventually located five juveniles inside and took them into custody. The juveniles were transported to Central Police Headquarters and were booked for interviews.
A firearm that was reportedly taken in another burglary was recovered at Monday's scene. Detectives are investigating if the suspects are involved in additional burglaries.
All suspects were arrested for burglary and one was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Three of the suspects were already on probation for burglary and one is on a monitoring device.
