A robber got more than he bargained for while trying to hold up a pharmacy in Council Bluffs, the pharmacist ended up tackling him.
Bond for the suspect, 33-year-old Kelton Houts of Carter Lake, was set at $50,000. As of Monday morning, Houts remained in the Pottawattamie County Jail and declined an interview request made by WOWT 6 News.
On Friday, the manager of Union Pharmacy, Bill Shipley, said a man walked in wearing a dark blue hoodie with his face covered and told a woman at the counter that he had a gun and demanded she had over oxycotin.
Shipley says he complied, but then followed the guy into the parking lot. He then tackled him and held him until police arrive. The robber did have a weapon, but it appeared to be a BB gun.
Houts was injured in the scuffle and taken away in an ambulance. He was charged with robbery and police say he might be linked to more robberies in the metro.
