The Iowa Department of Transportation says it will spend less than $100,000 to implement a new logo.
The department told DOT workers in an email that it would cost "below $100,000" over a five-year period to implement the new logo in offices, vehicles and other printed materials.
The department says it's been falling $215 million short annually of meeting critical needs for repairs and upgrades for the 114,000-mile road system. Some lawmakers have considered a proposal to raise Iowa's gas tax by 10 cents to generate more money, but it's been unpopular in the state Legislature.
