Police and county investigators started in the city looking for suspects stealing copper in the country.
Its part of a lengthy investigation into what one investigator calls a crew of copper thieves pulling wire off center pivots in Dodge, Douglas and Saunders Counties. Saunders County Attorney Investigator Ted Green said, “We’re at close to 15 hundred pounds of copper wire just through this one crew.”
Green has obtained a warrant for a man who might be a main suspect. 41 year old Scott Mohr of Omaha. Its a crime that happens in the country late at night with not witnesses. So how did Green zero in on this suspect?
Searching under a center pivot in Saunders county Green found a wallet with Mohr’s identification. Along with other evidence he obtained a multiple felony warrant for Mohr.
The suspect wasn’t home when investigators raid his northwest Omaha home Tuesday morning. But it’s hoped someone will call in where to find him Saunders County is leading the investigation so the number there is 402-443-1000.
