Jamal Dean, suspected of shooting a Sioux City police officer last week, has waived extradition, meaning Woodbury County investigators have 10 days to go to Texas and bring him back to Iowa.

Dean allegedly opened fired on a police car, wounding SCPD Officer Kevin McCormick during a traffic stop on April 29th. Dean was arrested last Saturday during a traffic stop in Rivera, Texas.

McCormick, who was shot in the forehead, is out of the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
