Cop "Caged" to Raise Money

An Omaha Police Officer will once again be caged up in the cold, at the "Cage a Cop" event at Village Pointe from Friday, December 21 to Sunday, December 23.

Officer Kevin Wiese will be caged for the duration of the event, and needs donations from the public to set him free. Last year, Officer Wiese raised about $4,300 for Special Olympics through the Cage a Cop event. This year, Wiese's goal is to raise even more money, $5,000.

Anyone who wishes to donate can do so between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday near the Scooter's at Village Pointe.

Donations will also be accepted at the link below.

The Cage a Cop fundraiser is associated with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Organization, which raises money for Special Olympics. In 2011, officers around the world raised more than $42 million and Nebraska law enforcement officers raised $238,000 for Special Olympics.
