Stockholders vote on merger. Midwest Farmers Coop and Farmers Cooperative Company both approve the merger.
The Cassgram reports a total of 1393 ballots were mailed to eligible Midwest stockholders. 583 were returned. There were a total of 443 voting for and 140 voting against the proposal for a 76% approval.
42% of the eligible (Waverly) Farmers Coop stockholders returned ballots; 75% were in favor of the merger.
The merger will become effective on January 1, 2014. By total sales, the new company will become the 8th largest farmers’ cooperative in Nebraska. (For a previous Cassgram report on the merger see the Archives 8/16/2013.)
