If you've spent any time outside this week, you probably agree with Laura Green.

“Very hot, very hot, just nothing but heat everywhere you are,” Green said.

She was keeping cool in the shade; we set out to find unique alternatives.

“Everybody's worried about being breathable, comfortable and healthy in the sun,” the store managers at Cabella’s said. “With the flaps in the back. Keeping you cool, keeping air circulating around the shirt and the UPF 50 on this also.”

He says shirts like this "Made For The Shade" brand help keep your body cool. In fact some fabrics contain UPF protection which blocks UV rays.

“You wanna go with something that's light weight, gonna be moisture wicking getting that moisture away from the skin, helping your body,” Erin Hicks said.

Hicks admits keeping cool does depend on what you wear but there are other ways.

Managers at Canfield’s on Omaha say “CoolBannas” are "hot" this summer.

“These have a little special crystal in them; you soak these in water for about ten minutes. And they're supposed to stay wet and keep you cool for a considerable about of time,” Assistant Manager Neil Jones said.

Back at the stage parking lot, Green agrees.

“CoolBanna’s” cost about $8.00 a piece. The wick fabric shirts run about $15-$30.
