Contractor Fails to Deliver on Roofing Work

Upset customers say a contractor hasn't kept his word. Fact Finders exposes a case involving thousands of dollars.

Dave and Jan Boster are keeping a watchful eye on their ceiling and Dave said, “We want to make sure we get the roof replaced.”

That’s why the Bosters paid JWT Contracting $2,800 on August 5.

“There was basically multiple promises of the materials being delivered that they were never delivered,” Dave said.

“Excuse after excuse after excuse,” Jan added.

Better Business Bureau President Jim Hegarty says eight homeowners like the Bosters have filed BBB complaints on Tim Trimble's JWT Contracting.

“He is sounding as if he's quite remorseful and feeling bad about this but saying he doesn't have any way of taking care of his customers,” Hegarty said.

Some can't wait any longer for repairs. One of them owns a home that a tree fell on over the summer. She’s moved out of state and needs the repairs done in order to sell the house here.

Stephanie McSharry put $1,500 down. She told us, “We trusted someone to do work in a timely fashion and now he's disappeared.”

Fact Finders attempt to contact the contractor resulted in an email from him stating, “I had a long run with happy customers. The wheels came off.”

But he is bonded, so customers like the Bosters have hope of getting money back to hire another contractor.

Dave says, “The good news - our roof isn't as damaged as others so we can wait until next year.”

After a call from Fact Finders the bond company promised the Bosters that a refund is on the way. Other customers will have to file claims and hopefully get their money back.
