On Friday, June 14th at noon, the Omaha Tribe and Blackbird Bend Corporation will be hosting a “Final Beam Signing Ceremony” at the construction site of their new Blackbird Bend Casino, located just 4 miles west of Onawa, Iowa.
The framework is nearly complete, and erection of the final beam is a major turning point in the construction of the building.
The Tribal Council and the Blackbird Bend Board of Directors, along with all Omaha tribal members, have been invited to sign the last steel beam to be erected. A luncheon will follow the cedar ceremony, which is open to the public.
The new casino is targeted to open by Valentine’s Day 2014 and will feature over 400 slot machines, live table games, and a full service restaurant. Blackbird Bend Corporation is currently operating a smaller temporary casino in what used to be the restaurant of the former Casino Omaha building, which was damaged by the flooding of the Missouri River in June 2011.
