A judge has ruled accused murderer Dr. Anthony Garcia will be moved from the Douglas County Jail to the Lincoln Regional Center for a mental evaluation.

Dr. Garcia was last in court on February 7th for a preliminary hearing, during which he lashed out, saying he doesn't trust his attorneys. At that time, the judge postponed the hearing so that his competency could be evaluated.

After Dr. Garcia is evaluated he will be moved back to the Douglas County Correctional Center. Next would likely be another hearing to find out the result of the competency evaluation.

Dr. Garcia is charged in the 2008 murders of Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman and the 2013 murders of Dr. Roger Brumback and his wife Mary.

Dr. Garcia allegedly held a grudge against those in the Creighton University Pathology Department who dismissed him from the program more than a decade ago. Hunter was the son of Dr. William Hunter and Sherman was the family housekeeper.
