We often hear that food donations go down during the summer. It's often not top-of-mind for the community. One metro company wants to light the fires of motivation.
Employees at Stericycle Communication Solutions, an answering service, decided to hold a canned food drive. They collected 1,284 cans.
Heart Ministries, along with the others in the hunger collaborative, picked up the donations Tuesday afternoon and were very appreciative of the efforts.
Mary O. Brown, with Stericycle, said, “I love working with the community. Heart Ministry helped me out when I had a hard time. And we decided, why don't we do something to reach out and motivate other people in the area to do the same."
Heart Ministries has done thousands of food pickups for years but this is the first time there was so much food. The weight damaged a dolly.
