Coin Chute Helps Retired Nuns

A coin here and a coin there can quickly add up.

And if you have a little fun saving those coins and it helps those in need, then that’s even better.

During Lent, kids at St. Wenceslaus School get to try out a coin chute in a stairway.

We're told the younger students love hearing the coin roll down the chute and into a bottle at the bottom.

The money goes to a good cause, retired nuns who taught at area catholic grade schools and Marian High School.

It's the kids way of showing their appreciation for the now retired Servants of Mary nuns that taught them over the years.

And those coins and dollars add up. Over ten years, the coin chute has raised around $30,000.

Students can also participate in a "Dress Down Day" for a dollar during Lent.

That's a day the students aren't required to wear a uniform to school
