The Cass County Emergency Management Agency, and fire and rescue volunteers from Weeping Water, Manley and Louisville were called to a location on Waverly Road about one-quarter mile east of Highway 50 about 8:40am Monday.
A pickup was pulling the nurse tank trailer when the trailer began whipping behind the truck, said CCEMA Chief Deputy Director Sandy Weyers. The tank broke loose and overturned. Anhydrous was leaking out of the broken valves.
The Cassgram reports Weyers credited Midwest Farmers Co-op employees for a quick response and their knowledgeable handling of the situation. She said the fire departments did a good job of cooling.
There were no injuries. Waverly Road was shut down for a time but the wind was blowing away from Highway 50 so the highway did not need to be shut down.
