City Boosts Marketing Expenses by $500,000

The Omaha City Council has approved a request to add $500,000 to the money being spent this year to promote the city. This is on top of the $850,000 already allocated to the advertising agency Swanson Russell.

Tuesday’s vote was unanimous, 7-0. It means the Omaha Convention & Visitors Bureau will be spending $1.35 million this year to promote the city to potential visitors.

On Monday, the visitors bureau justified spending the money by saying its last impact study revealed the city has 11-million visitors every year representing more than $900-million in revenue to the city.
