Charges are pending following the pursuit of a reckless driver in Council Bluffs Friday evening that ended with a police officer firing at the suspect.
The Pottawattamie County 911 Center received a call of a reckless driver in the area of North 8th Street and Avenue D just before 6 p.m. When police tried to pull the vehicle over the driver sped away. He was spotted again near North 17th Street and Avenue A where the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran.
Investigators confirm Officer Aaron Gutierrez fired one shot, missing the suspect, who was then arrested. The suspect, 46-year-old Dudie Rose, was taken to the hospital to be treated for a medical condition.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has joined the investigation since the officer opened fire.
