Chase Around Lake Community

A Beaver Lake man was booked on suspicion of several charges after an afternoon pursuit in and around the Beaver Lake community on Tuesday.

The Cassgram reports 22-year-old Aaron Peterson is alleged to have led sheriff's deputies on a chase that began at 3:42 p.m.

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann says a deputy observed a black motorcycle southbound on Highway 75 near Young Road traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles in a no passing zone. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the operator of the motorcycle increased his speed and drove away.

The deputy pursued the motorcycle to Rock Bluff Road, to Monroe Road and Beaver Lake Boulevard in Beaver Lake, and then eastbound on Murray Road on the south edge of Beaver Lake where deputies pulled back due to safety concerns about other motorists and citizens. The suspect motorcycle went north on 27th Avenue and then west on Rock Bluff Road.

The deputy was able to get a description of the motorcycle, a 2010 black Harley Davidson, and the operator who investigators identified as Peterson.

Several deputies converged on the area and a short time later located Peterson riding in a passenger car on Rock Bluff Road. He was placed into custody.

Deputies located the abandoned motorcycle hidden behind a row of trees in a yard on Manley Court which is a few blocks off of Rock Bluff Road.

Peterson was lodged in the Cass County Corrections Center for suspicion of flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, driving under suspension, and several other traffic violations.
