The forecast may not call for it, but attendees of a Saturday fun run are encouraged to bring winter coats, hats and gloves.
More than 650 people are gearing up for the first annual MudZilla Run at Crescent Ski Hill in Honey Creek, Iowa.
Event organizers are asking them to bring winter coats and clothing to help Open Door Mission get a jump on cold weather gear collections.
A staff member will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to collect donations.
"You never know when homelessness could affect you," says Samantha Fleischer, owner of Crescent Ski Hill. "No one needs to be out in the cold during the winter."
The Open Door Mission is a non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
The MudZilla Run is a locally organized 3.1 mile obstacle course.
