Former Cass County resident is charged with seven felony counts. 50-year-old Michael D. Masters of Bellevue was a resident at Beaver Lake when alleged sexual assaults took place between 1999 and 2008. There were three victims, all males under the age of 16 at the time, says the arrest warrant affidavit prepared by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
The Cassgram reports the warrant was issued last week and the charges were filed on Friday in Cass County Court. Masters had his first court appearance yesterday. Bond was set at $250,000. He had not bonded out as of yesterday afternoon. The preliminary hearing was set for September 19th.
The charges: one count of first degree sexual assault, statutory age at least 12 but less than 16, a Class II Felony; three counts of first degree sexual assault, statutory age less than 16, Class II Felonies; and three counts of sexual assault of a child, Class IIIA Felonies.
In the interview with the sheriff’s investigator, one of the alleged victims said he was advised by Masters it would be best never to tell anyone but the resulting emotional problems and depression prompted him to talk to law enforcement. He said he was also worried about the same thing happening to other children. The other two alleged victims were also interviewed for the affidavit and provided information.
