Changes for Cass County Fair. You’ll see some updates to the grounds, schedule changes and call for more volunteers.
The Cassgram reports The most obvious physical improvement is about 500 feet of paving from near the flagpole to the T-intersection. That’s an area where the route would tend to wash out and become rutty, says Fair Manager Steve Wehrbein.
A concrete path from the livestock building to the open air auditorium was also added.
Steel roofing was replaced on the food stand/restroom building and on the open air shelter at the horse arena.
There had been plans last year to replace the restrooms to the west of the open air auditorium, but fair officials are still looking at the options for that project.
Werhrbein reminds you about the 22-stall campgrounds that opened last year.
---Schedule changes this year include the addition of another night of the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull. Those will be on Wednesday (8/8) and Thursday (8/9).
The Miss Cass County Contest on Wednesday will start an hour earlier at 7:30pm.
Shadow Ridge band performs Thursday night.
The Good Neighbor Awards and Pioneer Farm Family Awards are on Friday night before the performance by Sheila Greenland. (More on that performance is available at www.sheilagreenland.com.)
The “Cass County Cookin’ at the Fair” BBQ event returns for its second year. (That website is www.cassbbq.com.)
Otherwise, most of your Cass County Fair favorite events return in their usual time slots, says Wehrbein.
The full fair schedule is at www.cassfair.com.
---Fair officials will need more volunteer help this year. If you can provide a few hours to help at the pull track in the evenings or with parking control, you’re asked to contact Wehrbein at 402-504-2678.
