Fontenelle Forest has been a part of the metro for 100 years. Now, the staff at the nature conservancy is gearing up for a centennial celebration and the next 100 years.
Officials of the national natural landmark will announce their plans for the future on September 13th. The conservancy was founded in 1913 and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
The mission of Fontenelle Nature Association is to provide a place where people can experience and enjoy the quiet wild of nature, to inspire current and future generations to care for the natural world.
