A 17-year-old boy is accused of bringing a gun to Burke High School. According to police reports someone reported the incident to school administrators.
They were told that after school on September 17th that a hand gun was seen on a student on one of the buses. After reviewing surveillance video of that bus, police found the boy putting the gun into his backpack while riding the bus home from school.
The report says that officers later found the Taurus .25-caliber handgun at the boy's home, in his bedroom closet. Officers had written consent from the boy's mother to search his bedroom.
He is charged with possession of a gun on school grounds. The county attorney’s office says he will be tried as an adult. He'll likely face discipline under the Omaha Public Schools' code of conduct.
