Omaha police arrested a man who allegedly forced a driver from her SUV Wednesday morning in the Walmart parking lot near South 132nd and L streets and drove away.
The suspect pulled 58-year-old Anita Campos-Ramirez from the SUV just before 6 a.m. He was arrested around 9:20 a.m. in the Kmart parking at 50 and L after a short pursuit ended when the vehicle rolled over.
Anita was sitting in her vehicle, waiting to start her shift at the WalMart.
“Then he just yelled at me, 'get out of the car, bitch,' and threw me out of the car,” she said. “I'm laying there saying, ‘what the hell just happened?’"
Just recovering from a car accident last month, Anita only had her SUV for a few weeks.
After the pursuit and crash, the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Anita could only watch. Her vehicle was totaled. Her thoughts turned to what she should have done while waiting in the parking lot.
"I was just thinking about it,” she said. “Maybe I should lock my doors. Naw, it’s safe here. I guess you're not safe anywhere."
