Cargill Settles Over Wage Dispute at Nebraska Plant

The Wichita, Kansas-based subsidiary of Cargill had been headed
to trial over the federal case. On Tuesday, a judge approved the settlement agreement.

Former Cargill workers sued last year, saying hourly employees spend a substantial amount of time each day on work duties without getting paid. Those duties include dressing in protective gear, sanitizing tools, and walking to and from work stations.

Under the settlement filed in U.S. District Court in Omaha, Cargill Meat Solutions will pay eligible current and former employees $4 to $6 for each week.

They'll also pay $2,000 each to two workers who filed lawsuits and
almost $822,000 in attorneys' fees.they were denied extra pay.
